Our gums are made of a soft skin designed to cover the bones of the teeth. The tissue forms a tight seal around our teeth to support the bones and provide a barrier to bacteria. When the gums have disease, the gums may bleed when we brush our teeth and we may have bad breath.
This early stage of gum disease is known as gingivitis. If gingivitis isn’t treated, a condition called periodontitis can develop. This affects more tissues that support teeth and hold them in place. It is important to take good care of the gums by brushing the teeth after meals with toothpaste that has functions of relieving gum problems and flossing daily to remove food particles between and around the teeth, and to prevent the formation of plaque on teeth surfaces.
